Lerato's mother died giving birth to her, she had full blown AIDS. Lerato was clinically malnourished and very underweight. She came to the Sanctuary with an extremely poor prognosis as she was a very sick baby. Lerato was taken to Baragwanath Hospital where the care and concern for her was outstanding. However, when it became apparent that she was not going to live, she was discharged. Lerato came home to a warm, loving, caring family to die, She was loved until death.
